“If you go off into a far, far forest and get very quiet, you’ll come to understand that you’re connected with everything.”  – Alan Watts

In my new mixed media piece, We Are All Connected, I was inspired by the concept of being at one with our fellow humans and the planet.  It’s an invitation to remember what’s real and to connect with nature and one another.

Even at times when we are limited, no one is an island.  We are all part of an ecosystem.  Even when when we are different from one another, there are still invisible threads under the surface bonding us together.

Being confined to my home has lit a fire within me to find more sustainable ways to connect.  I’m rethinking the way I live and doing things like:

  • Turning off the tv and calling friends and family more often.
  • Starting a vegetable garden.
  • Buying less from amazon and more from small businesses.
  • I also signed up for a CSA delivery, which stands for community sustained agriculture, or in other words a farm to door delivery.
  • Slowing down and connecting more with myself without all the noise.

It’s all helping little by little.

Anyway, my message for you today is that you are important.  You are part of us all.  You contribute, even when things might seem lonely or difficult.  Whether you’re working an essential job, caring for children, cheering up a friend, or even just putting on a mask when you leave your home, every one of us affects change in our world.  You don’t have to lead a big movement for civil change.  You can do this in the smallest of ways by simply trying your best to live authentically.

And on the flip side, if you need to reach out, you can lean on others for help.  It’s important that we all support and love each other.  You never know what good can come your way and what connections could be made.
